Taking Hold I-IV
2026
Mixed media assemblage of weathered metal, leather, wood, lichen and found materials
Set of four works, each 55 × 55 × 6 cm
Taking Hold explores how abandoned structures become places for new life to emerge. Weathered surfaces, fractures and exposed materials reveal the gradual effects of time and deterioration. Within these remnants, lichen begins to establish itself, finding shelter in spaces once occupied by something else. The four works consider the quiet relationship between decay and renewal, where abandonment does not mark an ending, but creates the conditions for other forms of life to take hold.
